A few hours before the start of the national project "Khalifa Sat". The first satellite made in the UAE.
Khalifa Sat will be launched tomorrow at 8 am from the Tanigashima Space Center earth station in Japan, aboard the H-IIA rocket, for a five-year in-orbit operation.
Khalifa Sat is the first 100% Emirati satellite designed and manufactured by the Mohammed bin Rashid Earth Observation Center. It is a success story that will contribute to the position of the UAE as a leader of the global space science industry and Emirati technology icon for humanity.
The Khalifa Sat, a two-meter-long 330-kilogram building, was built by 70 UAE engineers aged between 27 and 28 years.
Khalifa Sat was launched following the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Sovereign of Dubai, that KhalifaSat was launched in December 2013 and has been entirely designed, developed, manufactured and managed by the team. Among the engineers and skills of the UAE, it is the first satellite to be developed in clean rooms in the Center's space technology laboratories.
Khalifa Sat is the third Emirati satellite to fly in space after the satellites DubaiSat-1 and DubaiSat-2.
Emirates Today will broadcast the launch of Khalifa Sat on its platforms on social networking sites.
