Uber Opens New Major Center in Dallas to Create 3,000 Jobs – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Uber officially opens a new major hub in Dallas that will create 3,000 new jobs in the region, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday afternoon.

The new facility will be a new US administrative and administrative center for the company specializing in ridesharing, food distribution and other types of transportation.

"I am proud to welcome Uber's investment in the great state of Texas, as well as the 3,000 jobs it will create in its new Dallas office," said Abbott. "This investment will contribute to Texas' continued economic success and reputation as a better state for businesses. The project is expected to create 3,000 new jobs.

The Dallas City Council had recently approved incentives to bring the new Uber hub to Dallas, offering nearly $ 10 million. The company is expected to open new offices in a 160,000 square foot office tower, already under construction on Pacific Avenue near Deep Ellum.

According to Uber, Dallas was the first city in Texas to offer the carpool service in 2012.
