Ubisoft delays Rainbow Six and Riders Republic ripping

Ubisoft’s downfall has just fallen a few notches. Big hitters like Far cry 6, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Republic of the Cavaliers Seemed set to carry the business into the holiday season, but now two of those games have been delayed, one entirely to 2021.

Ubisoft announced both delays today on its website. Republic of the Cavaliers, an extreme sports game, moves from September 2 to October 28. Rainbow Six Extraction, a Left for dead– as a spin-off of the popular shooters series, slipped and from September 2021 to January 2022.

The company hasn’t provided many details on why the two games will miss their originally planned release dates. For Republic of the Cavaliers, the development team said the delay “will give us more time to polish the experience and give you another chance to jump in before launch and provide feedback.”

Rainbow Six ExtractionThe s development team, meanwhile, simply stated that it “is taking the opportunity to take more time to bring this vision to life as it deserves in January 2022”.

Both games featured prominently during Ubisoft presentation at E3 this year, with Extraction particularly intriguing thanks to its mixture of alien splashing co-op and uh rudeness. Republic of the Cavaliers doesn’t have any aliens (to our knowledge), but it does offer a co-op and a whole bunch of snowboards, bikes, and squirrel-suit gliders to pilot, presumably through some form of republic. It also takes place in an open world, which can lead to all kinds of wacky issues if the right amount of polish isn’t applied.

Delays are far from the only problem currently plaguing Ubisoft. As Kotaku reported earlier today, the company is currently the target of a complaint lodged with the French courts which accuses it and its CEO Yves Guillemot of “institutional harassment”. So maybe there is no game more iconic to Ubisoft’s current state than Republic of the Cavaliers. The company is, after all, in a bumpy ride.
