Ubisoft will not include physical games in UK Collector’s Editions for future Xbox One titles

Ubisoft has tweaked Collector’s Editions on Xbox for three of its most anticipated games. If you pre-ordered Collector’s Editions for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, or Far Cry 6 on Xbox, you will now receive a digital copy of the game rather than a physical edition.

A short article on a help page found on the Ubisoft UK store website details the change. Ubisoft didn’t provide a reason, but it could be related to Xbox’s smart delivery feature, which gives access to certain games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Essentially, you buy one game once to play at a time. on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. All three Ubisoft titles support Smart Delivery, so there is only one Collector’s Edition for each game that will be compatible with both Xbox consoles. Ubisoft told Polygon that this change does not apply to North American customers.

The change does not apply to PS4 versions of Collector’s Editions, which will always come with physical games. Just like on Xbox, you’ll be able to play your PlayStation pre-order on both PS4 and PS5 – although the game’s box artwork is PS4. Ubisoft also supports a cross-purchase system on PS4 to PS5 for technical improvements. Unlike some of its competitors, its next-gen games will cost $ 60, at least at launch.

Expensive Collector’s Editions for Far Cry 6 ($ 200), Watch Dogs: Legion ($ 190), and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ($ 200) are sold exclusively in the Ubisoft Store. Unfortunately, the only one left in stock is Watch Dogs: Legion.
