UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton to transfer

UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton transferred, the program announced Thursday morning. Milton is only two years old after sustaining a horrific leg injury in UCF’s final game of the 2018 season. Milton officially entered the transfer portal an hour after his announcement, sources told 247Sports.

“A lot of people could say that I helped UCF reach new heights and that I did this for UCF and that I did this for UCF,” Milton said in a video from the program’s official Twitter account. “UCF has done so much more for me and my family than I could ever do for them. Milton took over as head of the scout team in training in October, a milestone in his recovery from an injury that nearly led to his leg amputation. In an interview with ESPN in October, Milton spoke about his health and returning to the grill.

“It’s the most fun I’ve had in two years, being out there with the guys, taking on a good competition and lighting a fire under their bum,” Milton said. “I throw in motion, I change direction without thinking twice. I feel normal.”

In three 2016-18 seasons with the Knights, Milton completed 61.8% of his passes for 8,683 yards with 72 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. Prior to the UFC, Milton was a three-star 247Sports Composite rookie from Mililani High School in Hawaii.

Although Milton has no idea when or whether to play in a Knights game, he remains optimistic in his rehabilitation efforts.

“My plan for this year is to continue rehab and if my number is called my number is called, but I will continue on the path and be the best teammate I can,” Milton continued to ESPN. “We’re 2-2. Milton not officially in the transfer portal yet, but reunion with former head coach Scott frost in Nebraska could make a lot of sense.
