UCLA's former linebacker / defender, Jaelan Phillips, is being transferred to Miami, he announced Thursday night on Twitter.
Phillips, who was ranked by ESPN as the country's 3 rd recruit in 2017, retired for health reasons in December after two injury seasons with the Bruins.
He has played only 11 games, including six from, and finished his career at UCLA with 41 tackles, including eight for defeat and 4.5 sacks. A concussion ended his 2018 season after four games.
Phillips will be eligible to play for the Hurricanes immediately in 2019 as his four games in 2018 will count as one year in red, according to NCAA rules.
Phillips joins a host of recent transfers to the Canes, including a former UCLA teammate in the defensive tackle Chigozie Nnoruka, as well as Tate Martell's quarterback of the state of Ohio and Bubba Bolden, member of the USC Security.
