Mike Perry missed weight. Greatly.
The controversial welterweight came close to hitting the target in Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC 255, tipping the scales at 175.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds over the limit.
Perry’s opponent, Tim Means, successfully weighed 171 pounds (with an untitled one pound fighting allowance). The fight takes place at a catch-up weight with Perry losing 30 percent of his purse to Means.
At the top of the map, the four participants in the title fight managed to gain weight. The main event between male flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (125) and challenger Alex Perez (124.5), and the main co-event between female flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko (124.5) and Jennifer Maia (124.5) , 5) are both official for the Saturday card.
All 24 fighters competing on Saturday, with the exception of Perry, managed to put on some weight. Earlier today, Perry posted on social media that he was struggling to lose weight.
I’m sorry man. I don’t think I can do it

I’ve always talked about waste during weight cuts, so if I couldn’t make it happen I could tell I was telling you I wasn’t sure. Maybe I got past that. I tried asking for a fight at 185 but maybe I don’t have it anymore. I am so grateful to all the kind people in @ufc

I can’t even believe I’ve been here for so long. Maybe I should just put the gloves on. I do not want it. I’m right over my head with this weight. I was just 189 and now I’m 177 and can’t sweat. I ran with a nice sauna suit, I entered the portable sauna for 15 minutes, nothing

So easy for people to sit there and say shit, but I swear I feel like someone is saying I’m weak because it doesn’t reduce the weight. It’s death for me. I’m already dying and have 6 more pounds to go. I know it doesn’t sound much but it’s harder than the first 14.

Perry has already been the subject of much discussion this week as he answered questions about recent domestic violence allegations raised by his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson.
