UFC 264 video: Conor McGregor threatens Dustin Poirier after loss: “In your sleep you get it”

After the unfortunate end of UFC 264, Dustin Poirier claimed Conor McGregor was making death threats against the former interim lightweight champion and a video has since surfaced to confirm that.

Poirier and McGregor met for the third time during Saturday night’s main card event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After a first round of competitive action, Poirier gained huge momentum for the second half of the first round, mostly over McGregor on the ground, landing big punches. When they got up, the two fighters engaged, failing their attempts to strike. McGregor then took a step back and his leg broke causing the fight to end.

During the post-fight press conference, Poirier said McGregor, as he lay on the mat with his leg in a brace, was going to “murder” him.

On Sunday evening, an alternate-angle video was posted to Twitter showing McGregor yelling at Poirier ahead of his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. While not all of the verbiage was easy to hear, it looks like McGregor actually threatened Poirier.

While the tweet claims that McGregor also threatened Jolie, Poirier’s wife, it is not clear that this is the case. The former two-division champion has repeatedly said: “In your sleep you get it” and the rivalry “is not over”.

Poirier also agrees with that sentiment, saying he will fight McGregor again “whether it’s in the octagon or on the sidewalk.” Poirier also said that McGregor has said a lot of other things in building the trilogy fight that he hopes will be shown to the public.

“Conor said nasty stuff that didn’t work out on Embedded, and maybe when this behind the scenes of this fight airs you’ll see him on the ground saying some really bad things,” Poirier said during UFC 264 post-fight press conference. “But even these things being said, I do not wish anyone serious harm like this.

“The guy has kids. I want him to go home safe and sound with his family. I pray before these fights, every time before going through the octagonal door, I pray that I don’t win. I pray that we both get out of this cause, I know what I’m going to try to do to him and I know what he will try to do to me.
