UFC Vegas 14 medical suspensions: Paul Felder faces six-month sentence for elbow

Short-notice hero Paul Felder must take a few steps to avoid a six-month suspension following his loss to UFC Vegas 14 headliner Rafael dos Anjos last Saturday.

Felder needs an x-ray or MRI of his right elbow first, according to medical suspensions released by the Nevada Athletic Commission (courtesy of official ABC records manager Mixedmartialarts.com). If he is “positive” for a serious injury, he must obtain medical clearance or he will be suspended until May 14. Felder’s rep did not immediately return a request for comment on the nature of the injury.

Felder stepped in to face dos Anjos on five days’ notice and walked the distance with the former champion, getting a score of 48-47 on a judge’s scorecard while the other two gave the shutout to dos Anjos.

Previously on the verge of continuing his professional career, Felder walked out of last Saturday’s fight and vowed to continue. The loss to dos Anjos followed a split appeal setback to Dan Hooker in February that left him uncertain about his future.

A total of 16 fighters received medical suspensions longer than the standard seven-day sentence. UFC Vegas 14 was held at UFC APEX in Las Vegas and aired on ESPN +.
