UFC Vegas 15 bonus: Anthony Smith’s submission to the main event leads the winning quartet

Anthony Smith took home a much-needed victory and an additional $ 50,000.

“Lionheart” submitted Devin Clark via a triangular choke during the UFC Vegas 15 main event at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, marking the finish halfway through the first round to claim his first victory of 2020 The 50-fight veteran avoided what could have been his third straight loss and fourth in five outings.

The submission earned Smith one of four Performance of the Night bonuses given out on Saturday, with no bout winning the Fight of the Night honor.

Joining Smith on the bonus list are Miguel Baeza, Sumudaerji and Nate Maness.

With the original main event between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis canceled due to Blaydes’ positive test for COVID-19, Smith and Clark were pushed back to headlining as Baeza’s fight with Takashi Sato became the new co-main event. Baeza took the opportunity, beating Sato with an arm-triangle choke in the second round to improve his UFC record to 3-0 and his overall professional record to 10-0.

Tibet Sumudaerji won his first performance bonus in the UFC with a quick 44-second knockout of Malcolm Gordon on the card preliminaries. It’s now two straight wins for Sumudaerji.

Nate Maness also won his first UFC bonus while going 2-0 for promotion. “Mayhem” had to come back from a tough first round to secure a starter bid behind veteran Luke Sanders in the second round.
