Kyle Daukaus thought he was leaving UFC Vegas 38 with a win, but instead he will return home with no contest on his record after his fight with Kevin Holland ended under a set of bizarre circumstances.

The streak leading up to the finish began after the two fighters bowed their heads to engage in an exchange of strikes and clashed in a violent manner. Sadly, it was Holland who had the worst after being nearly knocked out by the accidental head butt, which sent him crashing to the canvas.

Referee Dan Miragliotta almost stopped the fight, but instead let the action continue, with Daukaus seizing the moment by delivering the penalty and then concluding a choke submission standing against the cage.

Once it was clear there was no escape, Holland tapped and it appeared for a moment that Daukaus was going to claim the biggest win of his young career in the UFC.

As soon as the fight was over, Miragliotta started chatting with the other ring officials about a replay that clearly showed the clash of heads, which then led to Daukaus arriving. While Miragliotta admitted seeing the accidental foul, he allowed the fight to continue as he said he saw Holland start to fight.

After much discussion, the decision was finally made to declare the bout without competition as the submission came after Holland was clearly compromised by head clash.

The fighters shook hands in the cage with Holland and Daukaus both vowing to return at some point in the future after a disappointing end to the main co-event in Las Vegas.
