Featherweight UFC, Dan Ige, said that a bizarre set of circumstances led him to donate blood to a stranger early Thursday morning.

As an active UFC athlete, Ige, 27, is undergoing a random drug testing program, run throughout the year, administered by the US Antidoping Agency (USADA). According to Ige, a blood collector went to his Las Vegas home and asked for a blood sample on Thursday.

After the collection process, however, the collector revealed that it was not USADA.

"I was half asleep and I just crossed it," Ige told ESPN. "She took my blood, and after she was:" What do you call? "I told her my name and she said," Oh, you're not not John? "I'm like," What's the f —? No, I'm not John. "

"What is crazy, is that she came out of my house with my blood. At the time, I did not think.I thought to myself:" You are not there for me, come out of my house. "My main goal is to recover my blood or to get the evidence that it was destroyed.I do not want my blood to float just outside."

Ige said that he had since identified a "John" in his neighborhood, who lives a block away. John confirmed to Ige that he had to submit his blood tests to a private laboratory on Thursday and that the collector visited him after his mistake.

Ige said that he was in contact with the lab, but that the status of his blood sample was not resolved. He said the UFC had advised him to file a police report.

"It's crazy," says Ige. "Who else comes to my door at 6 am and wants blood or urine, I did not think about it, I do not want to cause trouble to anyone whatever it is, but it's for my peace of mind … to have a clone somewhere out there, or end up on a crime scene. "
