College basketball season has officially arrived and the Kentucky Wildcats were at Rupp Arena Wednesday night for their opener against the Morehead State Eagles.
The Cats spoke up with a whole new group of cats, and it was the start of what BBN hopes will be a race at the No.9 National Championship.
From the start this Kentucky team looked great, especially Isaiah Jackson, who scored a quick 7 points before picking up his second foul by sending him off the bench.
The Cats quickly took a 10-4 lead in the opening 5 minutes of the season and have never looked back.
At the Under-8 media timeout, the lead had increased to 24-11 and these young cats entered the half-time locker room with a 45-26 lead.
The second half was more dominating for the Cats as they had built a 30-point lead, 67-37, with 10 minutes remaining.
Kentucky did everything they needed to go into the season opener. They shot the ball well, dominated the boards and locked down defensively with an 81-45 victory.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the victory:
Isaiah Jackson scores the first bucket for the Cats this season.

Terrence Clarke drew 4 fouls in 4 minutes
It’s rather good

Show up early: Askew looks good with the ball. Clarke’s midrange game looks silver. The length of Jackson, the speed of the ground.

Boy, Jackson is gonna be good. Has a chance to really improve his draft.
– All of Kentucky (@BBNWonka) November 25, 2020
Enjoy Isaiah Jackson during these precious few months.
– Travis Graf (@TravisGraf_) November 25, 2020
Terrence Clarke reminds me so much of Malik Monk.
Athletic freak who can score from anywhere.

Lance Ware gets a lot of points here in the first half, it looks like he solidified that No.7 spot in the rotation (No.8 when Keion Brooks Jr. returns).

I think Askew and Mintz are showing that they will be more than capable 3 point shooters. Why the two can play a lot together
– Views of Vaughts (@vaughtsviews) November 25, 2020
Dontaie Allen’s first three-point mark as a Wildcat was pure local. I love to see Mr. Basketball get quality minutes ahead.
– Nick Roush (@RoushKSR) November 25, 2020
TERRENCE CLARKE AT ONE.
We have dreamed of times like these.
– Travis Graf (@TravisGraf_) November 25, 2020
Obviously the competition is going to get a lot tougher, but BJ Boston and Terrence Clarke look like the type of guy Kentucky has been missing since 2017.
– Jon Hale (@JonHale_CJ) November 25, 2020
Never forget that Drake slipped into Cam’ron Fletcher’s DMs to tell him he was nice at basketball
– BBN tonight (@BBNTonight) November 26, 2020
Half’s surprise is Cam’Ron Fletcher
– Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) November 25, 2020
Askew can’t be beaten to the basket that easily. It won’t happen to Mintz I don’t think so
– Views of Vaughts (@vaughtsviews) November 26, 2020
Olivier Sarr went almost 20 minutes in his Kentucky debut without a point, then dipped a lob and hit back-to-back jumpers in the span of two minutes. He didn’t force anything tonight and was a good and willful passer. But he can certainly get buckets.

I really love watching this team … all these guys are so talented
– Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) November 26, 2020
It’s pretty obvious that this will be one of, if not the most athletic, teams in college basketball.
– Jason Marcum (@ marcum89) November 26, 2020
One thing that struck me tonight is the absence of those 4-5 minute droughts that recent British teams will experience no matter how strong the opponent is. This team has a lot of options at this end of the floor.
– Jeff Drummond (@JDrumUK) November 26, 2020
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hopes college basketball is sustainable this year, not just in Kentucky but across the country.
Tonight was so fun

The new autograph:
A gang of youngsters carefully approach (and masked) Nick Richards (masked) and stand several feet in front of him to take a selfie as he throws two in the background.
– Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) November 26, 2020
Kentucky dribbled the clock to win 81-45. Kentucky’s over / under for the game was 81.5 points.
We have our first #badbeat of the season!
– SDSBasketball (@SDSBasketball) November 26, 2020
Coach Cal must be happy with his young team and the way they have started this season. Play good defense and move the ball in attack. Go cats!
– Rich Brooks (@UKcoachbrooks) November 26, 2020
And like, listen, maybe this is confirmation bias for me! I say that I have really enjoyed this team for months now. But they look even better early on than I thought they would. https://t.co/6B1AC9xBSo
