2nd Broward officer who reacted to the Parkland shooting

The sheriff's office has not confirmed the reason nor identified the police officer.

The first officer to be disciplined, Scot Peterson, was the Officer in Charge of School Resources at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He was suspended without pay for waiting outside when 17 students and teachers were killed and he resigned shortly thereafter.

Earlier this month, the investigators of the Security Commission Marjory Stoneman High School public Douglas presented findings on staff response to the February 14 shooting and previous events.

The hearings revealed communication problems between law enforcement and school staff as the shooting unfolded. The commission also heard about forgotten warning signs regarding the alleged gunman.

The Capt. Jan Jordan, who was in charge during the shooting, resigned last week during hearings.

20-year-old Nikolas Cruz is in jail since he allegedly killed 17 students and teachers during the shooting in his old school. According to court documents, Cruz confessed to having committed one of the most deadly mass murders in the recent history of the United States

. He is charged with 17 counts of first degree murder and 17 counts of attempted first degree murder.

Every week, Broward Schools announced that Assistant Directors Jeff Morford, Winfred Porter Jr. and Denise Reed, as well as security specialist Kelvin Greenleaf would be reassigned to other district administrative offices.
