A small plane sank on Sunday in a Southern California home, killing five people, wounding two others and throwing debris at several residential blocks that had become a temporary chaos site.
The accident, which occurred around 2 pm, killed the victim. Four people inside Yorba Linda's home – two men and two women – as well as the pilot of the plane, Lt. Cory Martino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said Sunday at a press conference. A National Transportation Safety Board investigator, Eliott Simpson, said that the plane had left Fullerton Airport at 1:35 pm. The man, Joshua Nelson, then posted a photo of what appeared to be a wreck of a plane stuck in the driveway and lawn of a neighbor.
"The plane exploded in the sky," said Jared Bocachica, witness of the accident, to the local KTLA news channel.
At the press conference, Mr. Simpson said debris from the plane, a 1981 Cessna, were scattered four blocks from the scene of the accident.
