COUNTY OF ALACHUA, FL. died in a fire accident along I-75 near Gainesville on Thursday afternoon.

Alachua County Fire Department's rescue service reported that eight people had been taken to the hospital, some with serious injuries.

The accident occurred on I-75 heading south, near the SR-222, north of Gainesville.

Several vehicles caught fire, including a semi-truck spilling 50 gallons of diesel fuel.

All I-75 SB lanes located at kilometer 393, north of 39th Avenue, are closed. Some northbound lanes are also closed.

The rescue team reported that a helicopter was looking in the woods for all the people who could have ended up there after the accident.

The cause of the accident has not yet been unveiled.
