MINI electric cars will be the focus of the Great Wall – MMR – Motor Media Review

Information on the cooperation of two giants of the automobile, previously circulated at the level of the rumor, has been officially confirmed. The BMW Group and the Great Wall Motor Group (GWM) have signed an agreement to create a joint venture between Spotlight Automotive Limited in China, in which the partners will receive equal shares. The company will be located in Jiangsu Province. It will develop and produce MINI electric cars for the Chinese market, as well as GWM battery models. There are no product export plans

The document was signed by the founder of GWM, Wei Jiangyun, and BMW Claus Frelick, member of the board of directors. Bavarian Bavarian Harald Kruger said the agreement "represents a new level of cooperation between China and Germany" and described the win-win partnership for both parties.

The registration of joint ventures is not yet complete and the approval of Chinese regulators has not yet been received. But the problems should not arise, as Prime Minister Lee Ketsian was present when signing an agreement with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. No new commercial organization for future electronics will create partners in China, relying on existing BMW Group sales channels. The conditions of the beginning of the production are not made public. Previously, a start was announced in 2021-2022. The fear that the friendship with GWM interferes with the relationship between BMW and Brilliance is not justified.
