NEW YORK – New York police released a new video of a daylight shooting, apparently targeting the son of a reputed Mafia partner, reports CBS New York . Police say a gunman opened fire around 6:30 am Wednesday while the victim was standing near a vehicle in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx.
Sources tell CBS New York that the victim is Salvatore Zottola, the son of a reputed Mafia. associate. The police could not confirm that the shooting was related to the crowd.
In the video, we see a red Nissan sedan pulling up, and a suspect opens fire from the front passenger seat. The 41-year-old victim tries to escape by rolling on the ground to avoid bullets.
The suspect is seen exiting the passenger seat, pursuing the victim and firing three more bullets before he runs away.
Zotolla suffered gunshot wounds to his torso and hands and wounds to his head, but survived. He was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition
