A firefighter from Howard Co. dies fighting a fire in a 7-alarm house in Clarksville

WASHINGTON – A Howard County firefighter died as a result of injuries suffered while fighting a house fire in Clarksville, Maryland, which allegedly triggered a thunderbolt

In the block 7000 Woodscape Drive, near Guildford Road, Deputy Chief Daniel Merson said at a press conference:

The Flames began to pick up at home shortly before 9 am

Property records show the $ 1.2 million house is owned by Janet Siddiqui, a Howard County politician who comes forward for the county council.

The firefighter was transported to the hospital

"It's a tragic day for the family of this firefighter and for the Howard County Fire Department," said Merson .

The fire department did not reveal the firefighter's identity pending notification "

Maryland's governor, Larry Hogan, went on Twitter to express his condolences

"Incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of a firefighter from Howard County then that he was working bravely to save the others "Lives," wrote Hogan

Crews went home shortly before 2 am for reports of a possible love at first sight. said that smoke was coming out of the house when the crews arrived and that they set off a box alarm and a workgroup.

Merson said the crews began with an "aggressive, offensive, inner attack" on the fire when the fireman fell through the floor of the house.A call may have been placed and the teams were able to locate the injured firefighter "after several minutes."

The response to the fire continued to increase on Monday morning, culminating in a seventh alarm requested shortly before 5 am

Firefighters of Anne Arundel, Prince George's Montgomery and Carroll Counties in Maryland were called to help control the fire.

Three people who were inside the house were able to get out safely.
