The German astronaut Alexander Girst, who is currently aboard the International Space Station, made photos of of the complete lunar eclipse that the inhabitants of the Earth were able to observe on the night of July 28th. The photos were posted on the page of the astronaut Twitter .

This lunar eclipse has become the longest of the current century: its duration was 103 minutes to the maximum possible eclipse duration of 108 minutes. To beat this record will be the eclipse of 2123, which will last 106 minutes. The duration of all phases of the eclipse was six hours and 14 minutes

The same day it was possible to observe the connection of the Moon and Mars, while the red planet was the closest point of contact with the Sun. Mars will correspond to the minimum distance to the Earth on July 31st.

On March 31 the inhabitants of the Earth were able to observe the "Blue Moon" – the second of the calendar month is full. The next similar phenomenon will be observed by the inhabitants of our planet on October 31, 2020.
