FALMOUTH – Officer Donald DeMiranda has a calming influence on the East Falmouth neighborhood where he lives. His neighbor next door said that knowing that he is nearby makes him feel safe.

On Saturday, this neighborhood was hoping DeMiranda and his colleague, Constable Ryan Moore, would recover quickly after being injured Friday afternoon in a shootout.

He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth and from there he was flown to Brigham and Women Hospital in Boston, according to Falmouth Police.
