EU sanctions through the construction of the Kerch Bridge came into effect

The European Union has formally imposed sanctions on companies involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge. The decision of July 30 is published in the official magazine of the EU

Since July 31, under European sanctions, there are two companies, Arcadia Rothenberg, PJSC Mostotrest and Budgazmontazh LLC. Both companies are also on the US sanctions list.

The sanctions of the EU were also the following: "Diprobudstrom Institute – St. Petersburg", "Zaliv Shipbuilding", "Budgazmontazh Bridge", SA "VAD".

The construction of the bridge and its official opening in May of this year were "key symbolic milestones for the consolidation of control of Crimea and Sevastopol illegally annexed by Russia and the isolation of the Ukrainian peninsula" .

President Putin announced the need to build a transition across the Kerch Strait immediately after the annexation of Crimea – in March 2014. The cities were promised to be built by 2018, put into operation – in the summer of 2019.

The Ukrainian side has left a contract with Russia on the construction of a bridge in 2014 – after the annexation of Crimea.
