Three people were killed and injured in an accident Thursday afternoon after the vehicle allegedly fled border patrol agents.

Border police officers attempted to carry out a law enforcement check at around 4:25 pm. in eastern San Diego County.
Officers deployed a penetrating band while the vehicle was heading west and the driver lost control, became airborne, and rolled over an embankment in a two lane lane. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune authorities
11 people were employed by the van, nine of whom were lying on the bed of the truck at the time of the collision. Authorities believe that a driver and a passenger are the only ones inside the vehicle cabin.
A spokesman for the CHP told Fox News that the agency would issue a statement Friday with additional information. Border Patrol did not immediately postpone Fox News's request for comment.
Three of the occupants were reported dead at the scene, while the other three suffered "moderate to severe" injuries, authorities said. The injured parties were transported to several local hospitals
. The driver was in custody with the US Border Patrol and was being treated for his injuries. None of the identities of the occupants has been unveiled. It was not immediately clear whether they were part of the migrant caravan waiting to enter the San Ysidro port of entry in San Diego. The authorities do not suspect that alcohol or drugs have been involved in the collision.
The California Highway Patrol is now taking charge of the investigation.
