German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to guarantee "free delivery" in the sea of Azov. Their conversation took place on the sidelines of the "Group 20" summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Merkel's spokeswoman said the topics of discussion were relations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the conflict in Syria.
Putin's president, Dmitry Peskov, for his part. Merkel had asked the Russian president to release the captured Ukrainian sailors, but had refused to say that there was a judicial inquiry.
Peskov stated that Putin provided the Chancellor with a detailed explanation of the incident involving Ukrainian vessels.
