ROANOKE, VA (WDBJ7) – TUESDAY
Let's start with a sunny sky, but clouds will form in the afternoon. Temperatures will be much cooler for many, with highs likely reaching the mid-40s to the east and 40 degrees lower to the west.
TONIGHT
We can not ignore the risk of flurries tonight in the area. Most of the accumulated snow will remain in the mountains, but we can not exclude a pavement here or there. The minimums fall in the 20s and 30s.
THE REST OF THE WEEK
Time will continue for the rest of the week with highs between 30 and 40 years in our region and troughs in the 20s and 30s. A slight disturbance could lead to snow flurries traveling as far east as the Blue Ridge Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. An accumulation of light is even possible at high altitude.
THE WEEKEND
We continue to monitor the potential of a major weather event in winter this weekend. Mainly late Saturday to Sunday. It may even be early Monday.
At this point, the models continue to move the storm back and forth on each descent, but the idea of a winter storm late Saturday and until Monday morning remains a good possibility. The models kept the potential at each test, but at this point, there is great uncertainty as to the location of the depression and the cold of our temperatures. This will have a big impact on the total snowfall.
There is a lot of moisture available with this storm, but how bad would it fall because all the snow versus a mix is still questionable. Since the storm is still taking place in the Pacific Ocean, the details will probably not be known until the middle of the week.
