SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Ready for a good winter season? It seems like many counties will need a shovel.
The National Weather Service has released a winter storm watch from Friday night to late Saturday night. It includes the counties of Barry, Christian, Douglas, Howell, McDonald, Newton (Mo), Oregon, Ozark, Stone (Mo) and Taney, Missouri. On all state boundaries, the watch includes Baxter; Boone; Counties of Carroll, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton (Arkansas), Searcy, Sharp and Stone (Ark.).
Forecasters predict heavy snow with mixed precipitation. Total accumulations of snow could exceed six inches. Ice accumulations should stay around an enamel. Conditions could make travel dangerous.
