A major storm that disrupts movement is deporting snow and ice from Arkansas to North Carolina.
AccuWeather meteorologists claim that the greatest snowfall accompanied by this storm is expected from the southern Appalachians to the west of Piedmont in North Carolina and southern Virginia . Snowfall of 12 to 18 inches is expected, especially in the mountains of North Carolina with a 24-inch AccuWeather Local StormMax ™.
Travel will probably be completely stopped in these areas until the roads are clear.
Even though the worst of the storm will have passed Monday, schools could be closed early this week due to poor roads.

The number of power outages is expected to increase throughout Sunday as the storm continues to hit the area.

Little Rock (Arkansas) has moved to freezing rain over the past few hours, which could result in the appearance of slippery areas on the roads.
In Pemiscot County, Missouri, a county official reported that a semitrailer had been stabbed on Interstate 55.
Amtrak announced cancellations due to the winter storm.

The governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, declared the state of emergency and urged locals to prepare for the winter storm.
"North Carolina is preparing for a major snow storm and we are taking all necessary steps to have the resources to respond," said Governor Cooper. "The snow may be beautiful, but it can also be dangerous and I urge the North Carolinians to take this storm seriously and get ready for it now."
The People in Charge emergencies said they were watching the development of the storm closely to help counties get ready.
The North Carolina National Guard has also been activated to help with the response to the storm.
