Sterling, VA – The National Weather Service was issued by the National Weather Service for the County of St. Marys. Winter storm warning until noon. EST Monday. Winter storm warning in effect until midnight tonight. Lots of snow. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected in Saint Mary's County. Plan for snowy roads and slippery conditions. Traveling will be difficult. Temperatures will remain well below freezing tonight, so all untreated surfaces will remain covered with snow and slippery.
Precautionary / preparation actions. A winter storm warning for snow means that severe weather will make the trip very dangerous or impossible. If you have to travel, keep a flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in an emergency.
From 4.30 pm. the snow emergency plan was in effect in St. Mary's County.
