The European Parliament on Tuesday approved a resolution supporting Romania's and Bulgaria's request for membership of the Schengen area, despite the lack of consensus among the members of the European Council. The agreement should not be tied to the rule of law in both countries.
The resolution also calls on the Council to intensify the decision-making process in Croatia.
On September 13, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rütte, said in Bucharest: his country is you trial against the accession of Romania to the Schengen area because of his problem of corruption
Since 2011, it is the fifth resolution of the European Parliament containing recommendations for the adoption of Romania and Bulgaria in the Schengen Area
The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, also said he risks joining the Schengen agreement in case of continuation of the government program to introduce a controversial judicial reform.
