The fictional spy of James Bond has served his country's intelligence services well in a number of narratives concerning him. During his work, he drinks deadly doses of alcohol.
A team of researchers studying Bond's bad habits over the last sixty years has come to the conclusion that an agent specialist is suffering from a severe form of alcoholism he drank an average of 4.5 times in a movie, writes Newsweek.
A team of researchers led by Professor Nick Wilson, of the Australian University of Otago, analyzed 24 franchise films, the worst of which was in the movie Quantum of Mercy, released on screens in 2008. In one episode, James Bond drank six "champagne" cocktails containing gin, vodka and strong wine, Kina Lilly. In this unique case, the spy "infuses" 24 units of alcohol, which is enough to raise the blood level to the lethal limit. However, in one of Bond's books, scientists discovered that it was not a record for the British hero. One day, he consumed 50 units of alcohol a day. And this, according to scientists, is the number that "would kill anyone".
Wilson also noticed that his team had noticed the results of Bond's medical examination, which stated that his liver was "not doing well". And in the MI6 report, it is noted that Bond "discovered alcoholism and drug addiction". No less than his bad habits, the health of the hero hurts his activities. This includes fights, driving cars at speed and controlling complex machines, as well as "sex with enemies with the presence of guns or knives in bed".
In their findings, scientists not only advised James Bond to seek help from doctors, but also gave advice to his employer.
"For starters, the intelligence chief" M "is not better for Bond at the workplace," – says in report.
In addition, MI6 management needs to review the responsibilities of their agent in reducing stress levels. It was worth giving tasks to complete teams so that the tasks were not as oppressive to the alcoholic hero.
