Julián Castro announced on Wednesday the formation of a presidential exploratory committee, a move that positions him for a burst of attention in front of other hopes in what should be a group of overcrowded Democrats seeking to overthrow President Trump in 2020.
Castro The 44-year-old former mayor of San Antonio and former developer of housing and urban planning secretary to President Barack Obama, announced the initiative in a four-minute video broadcast on social networks. He also launched a new website to promote his expected candidacy.

An exploratory committee is usually a formality before the launch of a presidential campaign Castro says in his video that he plans to make an announcement in Texas on Jan. 12 to find out if he will go ahead with an offer at the White House.
In his video, Castro states that "Americans are ready to come out of the dark", and after discussing his journey, he lists several priorities These include making college affordable, expanding health care and ensuring seniors live in "dignity".
Castro appeared on the national scene after delivering a well-received speech at the 2012 Democratic Convention.
He was then still Mayor of San Antonio and shortly thereafter he was announced as a candidate for the vice-presidency in 2016, reflecting the growing importance of Hispanic voters and their vital role in democracy. Party Coalition.
