On the occasion of the Architecture Day, Intel announced new Core and Xeon processor lines based on the Sunny Cove architecture and announced the timing of their entry into production. The distinctive feature of these new products is a long-awaited transition to 10-nm processing technology and a significant increase in integrated graphics performance.

Intel graphics processor, Raja Kaduroi, announced that the company plans to market a processor that combines low power consumption and high performance. The novelty will consist of individual sets of finite elements – chipsets, which resemble the recently introduced AMD solution.

This technology is called Foveros 3D. Components that can include neural computing units, GPUs, and memory modules will allow you to compose the processor by placing it on top of each other. This approach will help Intel create high performance solutions.

New processors for the Core and Xeon series will be available with 10nm processing technology. The instruction sets used in chips can improve their performance in the context of data compression and cryptography. The architecture of Sunny Cove is derived from Skylake but, according to the developers, it has been significantly modified. In particular, the first level cache will be increased by 50%. The final volume of the cache will depend on the destination processors. The new chips will support up to 4 petabytes of physical memory, while current models are limited to 256 TB.

The CPUs of the new architecture will begin in the second half of the year next. Models with enhanced single-thread processing, high-speed, and auto-learning features will be available for sale no earlier than 02 02.

During the presentation, new Gen11 integrated GPUs, including 64 computer modules have also been announced. It is reported that Intel's integrated graphics will use a new approach to rendering, dividing the image into parts, and then processing and displaying the images separately, which will significantly reduce the video core's load. The productivity of this solution will be twice that of the previous generation.

Gen11 GPUs support hardware decoding of 4K video, video media processing up to 8K, HDR technology and Adaptive Sync. The new GPU will debut as part of the 10-nm processors that will be featured in sales in 2019.
