At the same time, the gas is mainly transported by Ukraine and by the "North Stream 1". Instead, they see the possibility in Berlin with the pipelines "North Stream-2", "South Stream" and "Turkish Stream".
In addition, Altmayer noted that Germany did not want to become too dependent on Russian gas. According to the politician, the question is that there are alternatives to the Russian proposal if, for any reason, the supply would be disrupted.
"As a result, we in Germany are determined to create an LNG infrastructure for liquefied gas," he said.
The minister explained that this gas could come from the United States and the Arab countries. However, it is currently much more expensive than gas pipelines. However, the German government plans to create the appropriate infrastructure, especially for the subsequent transit to other countries.

Poland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, the United States and Denmark opposed the construction of the pipeline. The emergence of this pipeline will increase the EU's dependence on the Russian company Gazprom, which already supplies about one third of its gas to the EU. After the launch of North Stream-2, Ukraine will lose not only the revenue of blue fuel transit, but also the lever of geopolitical influence.
