HOUSTON, Texas (AP) Authorities say a Houston man voluntarily set his house on fire while his wife and two young children were inside. The family escaped saves.
The fire started early Sunday. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that a man identified as Jimmy Lauder, 31, had poured gasoline into the house and burned it down.
Authorities claim that the woman called 911 as a result of a smoke alarm. The family came out of the house with the help of first responders.
The spokeswoman for Harris County Fire Marshal Rachel Moreno said Lauder had been charged with arson and endangering a child and had been incarcerated in the community. Harris County Jail. It was not clear immediately if he had a lawyer.
