Yet, between the optimism and the relatable notes of her book, there are allusions to the first lady that conservatives have often seen as hypocritical and slightly arrogant.

Was I too strong, or too angry, or too emasculating? Or was I too sweet, too much mother, not enough career woman? She lamented that she was described as high after everything she went through, even though she eventually became the first lady.
But although she comes from the working class, her hard work and America's choice as president have borne fruit. As the first lady, she had it well. She traveled around the world to the taxpayer fund in places like Ireland and Africa – trips worth more than $ 10 million. Secret Date nights and incredible restaurants cost thousands of dollars, and she donned expensive outfits from designers like Jason Wu.
It's not that Obama does not have a lot of story to tell – she has some. It's, in its own way, inspiring. But after a while, it's hard to give her credit as she enjoyed a life of relative luxury as a first lady, then turned around to pass the witness in such a sneering as critical way.
