A group American astronomers who worked with a telescope in Hawaii Mauna Kea Volcano, reported the discovery of the celestial body farthest from anything that has ever been observed in the solar system.
Object 2018 VG18 was named Farout (Far) and located at a distance of 120 astronomical units from the Sun, three times farther than Pluto. It takes him about a thousand years to make one that revolves around the sun. As you know, we have one. is equal to the distance from Earth to the Sun and is 149.5 million kilometers.
Scott Sheppard of the Carnegie Institution, David Thollen of the University of Hawaii and Chad Trukhillo of the University of Arizona discovered a new transneptone facility in search of a remote center of the solar system.
The mysterious planet X is the ninth planet in the solar system, provided by astronomers Michael Brown and Konstantin Batigin, based on orbit data from seven previously known transneptone objects.
In 2015, after astronomers had discovered similar anomalies in the orbits of several transneptonal objects at once, it was assumed that they were caused by the gravitational influence of a large body celestial unknown.
Calculations have shown that the mass of the object must be ten times greater than the mass of the Earth and lie at a distance of 200 to 600-1200 astronomical units. Scientists believe that a revolution around the Sun carries this planet for 15 thousand years, in part because it's still not caught in the telescope lens.
In the course of their research, scientists discovered a previous record holder at a distance from the Sun – the 2015 target for TG387. It was found on the eve of Halloween and the original designation of the object contained the letters TG. The dwarf planet was called The Goblin.
Note that the parameters of Goblin's orbit do not contradict the theory of the ninth planet advanced by Brown and Batigin.
Scientists have found a new object, which is now farther from Earth than the goblin. The first photos of the VG18 2018 were taken on November 10 at the Subaru Submarine Submarine Telescope, located atop Mount Hawaii on Mount Hawaii.
The observations in the Magellan telescope confirmed that the distance up to 2018 VG18 is about 120 astronomical units, making it the first object of the solar system observed outside the mark by 100 astronomical units.
"All we know about the 2018 VG18, is its huge distance from the Sun, its approximate diameter and color." Since it is so far, it rotates very slowly around the world. Star: a duration lasts about a thousand years, "said David Tolen, astronomer of the Hawaiian University.
Astronomers have defined Far's color – "pink". Presumably, its shape is spherical and its diameter is about 500 kilometers.
According to scientists, the discovery of VG18 2018 will strengthen the position of the hypothesis on planet X and bring astronomers closer to its discovery.
"It's very cool, it extends the solar system, makes it huge," say astronomers.
