A winter storm after Christmas could put a damper on your return home.

The storm system that forced the cancellation of a college football game at Texas due to incessant flash has caused conditions similar to the blizzard in parts of the Midwest on Thursday and has threatened to create chaos between Minnesota and Kansas, and is up to the New -England [19659007] Blizzard warnings were in effect in parts of Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, some regions were preparing to receive r up to 18 inches of snow. In Kansas, Governor Jeff Colyer declared the state of emergency.

"We hope that travelers will be wise, paying attention to weather warnings and avoiding unnecessary exposure to danger as the storm unleashes," Colyer said.

Travel will be dangerous with snow-covered roads, especially in areas where blizzard warnings are in effect, Weather Service warned.

Temperatures are expected to drop as the storm progresses. Actual temperatures will fall in the 20s, teens and a figure in some areas. According to AccuWeather, "because of the wind, temperatures will be almost zero."

A narrow band of winter mixes including ice pellets and freezing rain is expected in parts of central and northern Kansas to the south East of Minnesota, in northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan AccuWeather said.
