A Colorado man accused of murdering his fiancée appeared Thursday in court. A judge ordered that the couple's young daughter be temporarily placed in the custody of the missing woman's parents.
Patrick Frazee, who had been arrested last week because he was suspected of having killed his fiancée, attended the hearing in Teller County, Colorado, prior to his arrest. 39, to be sent back to prison.
Kelsey Berreth, a 29-year-old pilot, was last seen at a Safeway near her home in Woodland Park, CO on November 22, according to store surveillance footage, but Frazee said have seen it later day.
Woodland Park Police Service Berreth's mother l & # 39, reported missing on December 2, police said. Police say they think she's dead, but her body has not been found. Authorities said they found evidence related to the case on December 22, but refused to provide specific details.
The custody hearing had been scheduled prior to the disappearance of Berreth, but his parents were added to the case as special respondents earlier this month.
Frazee, 31, refused to answer reporters' questions, as the sheriffs brought him back to jail after the hearing.
Woodland Park Police The mother of Frazee filed a motion to intervene, according to the court records, but it is unclear whether she has applied for custody. Kaylee, 14, stayed at Frazee until her arrest last Friday for first degree murder.
He also faces a solicitation charge with a view to committing a murder, suggesting that the police believe that he did not act alone. Frazee is scheduled to appear in court on Monday about the murder charge.
The next hearing in the custody case is January 3rd.
Police in Twin Falls, Idaho, are working with Colorado authorities as part of the investigation. Berreth's cell phone rang on the phone near Golding, Idaho, on November 25, a few days after his disappearance.
On the same day that Berreth's cell phone rang in Idaho, his employer, Doss Aviation, in Pueblo, Colorado, received a text message purporting to be that of Berreth stating that she would not be able to work the next week, police said.
