A strange source of cosmic radiation has been discovered

. It has been discovered near the remnants of the supernova and covers the space of nearly a hundred light-years in diameter

. Scientists have discovered a strange source of high energy gamma rays, located next to the remnants of the G24.7 + 0.6 supernova. Information on this subject is published on Phys.org.

Radiation covers space in about one hundred light-years in diameter. In this case, the mechanism of its appearance is still unknown.

The source is 16,300 light-years away from Earth, with the remains of the supernova, which exploded 9,500 years ago. It belongs to a mixed type – has a shell with a pulsar in the center that generates a powerful stellar wind.

Although scientists have not been able to establish a source, we suppose that the phenomenon can be explained by the acceleration of the cosmic rays inside the supernova remnants by proton-proton collisions in the interstellar medium.
