Police found three bodies inside a house located in a southern California community on Friday night, after exchanging shots with a suspect who had barricaded himself inside the residence, according to reports.

The suspect was shot dead by the police and later died in a hospital, reported KKFX-CD, an FOX affiliate based in San Luis Obispo.

Authorities were summoned home to Orcutt, an unincorporated area in Santa Barbara County, about 155 km northwest of Los Angeles, after the entrance of a woman unidentified the house discovered a body soaked with blood in a bathtub, then escaped and called 911, says the report.

"It's certainly a very tragic situation here," said Hoover.

An earlier order of refuge on the spot at KEYT- TV Santa Barbara reported that the residents of Oak Hill Estates in Orcutt near the crime scene had been raised.
