Polish designer Marta Flisikovska presented the results of her project Who Nose, devoted to adapting the human nose to the evolving Mars climate after its installation on the red planet.

In total, she presented three models of nose. One of two pairs of nostrils – to warm the air, a plane to protect the sun and a nose with a special membrane – to increase the volume.

In modeling, the researcher took into account such important features of local climate as low temperatures, a thin atmosphere that transmits more sunlight. terrestrial and low-pressure rays, through which sound extends over smaller distances. It is these factors that can most affect adaptation to the red planet, as individuals will have to adapt to new conditions, warm the air, protect themselves from the sun and increase the volume of the planet. his.

However, to adapt to Mars, a person will need a lot of time. In addition, terraforming the planet should be successful, which will significantly change the climate and the atmosphere, and it will be only then that direct breathing on Mars will be possible.
