The funeral of Abdullah Hassan, 2 years old, in the farming community of Lodi, takes place one day after his death in a children's hospital after months of treatment for a degenerative brain disease
As part of the Muslim tradition, a body must be buried within 72 hours of its death. The child had to be put to rest after the service.
Abdullah 's mother, Shaima Swileh, has been beaten for over a year to obtain a ban on traveling to see her son. A pressure group filed a lawsuit and she arrived in the United States a little more than a week before her son died.

The boy's father took him to the United States for medical treatment in October. His mother Shaima Swileh stayed in their house in Egypt. The boy and his father are American citizens, but not Swileh.
Yemeni citizens are not allowed to enter the United States under the travel ban imposed by President Donald Trump. She requested a waiver in 2017, but the US authorities only accepted it in December, after the council filed a lawsuit.
Swileh held his son for the first time at the hospital on December 19th.
