Authorities have indicted a man 20-year-old black man in the death of a 7-year-old black girl in a wrong identity case, according to prosecutors
Jazmine Barnes' family had believed that his death had been motivated by racial considerations. They had identified a white man in a red truck as being the shooter
But at a court hearing Sunday morning, prosecutors said that Eric Black Jr. had confessed to the investigators that he was driving a dark-colored Kia SUV when a passenger identified in his vehicle while "Larry" opened fire on the car with Jazmine.
According to the Crown, a confidential source reportedly told the Harris County Sheriff's Office that the suspects had "shot the car by mistake"
. Black was charged with aggravated murder. It was not known immediately if the other suspect had been arrested.

Texas authorities filed a lawsuit against a suspect for the shooting of a 7-year-old black girl. 19659005] Harris County Office, Sherriff, said that Eric Black Jr., 20, had been indicted Sunday morning for the murder in the murder of Jazmine Barnes, December 30. Police said they identified the suspect on the basis of information corroborated by the investigation.
Police said Black "admitted taking part in the shooting" after being detained.
Investigators said that the case had "been arrested a new direction" shortly before the announcement of charges.

Texas authorities claim that "people of interest" are questioned as part of the investigation into the seven-year old black girl's shooting death .
Jazmine Barnes was shot dead in Houston on December 30, after investigators reported that a suspect had stopped near the car in which she was with her family and had opened fire. The shooting took place while the family was heading to a shop.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office posted on Twitter last Saturday that people of interest were being interviewed and that the investigation had "taken a new direction". The sheriff's office has not given more details.
Earlier Saturday, hundreds of people gathered at a rally for the girl near the place where the shooting took place. Jazmine's family said they believed the shooting was racist.
