At the annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle on January 7, astronomers announced the discovery of a new planet

. The planet, called HD21749b, is one of three small exoplanets discovered by the satellite. HD21749b is about three times the diameter of the Earth. It revolves around the orange dwarf at a distance of 53 light-years from Earth. The density of the exoplanet is comparable to the density of water. This means that it is unlikely to be a rocky planet, similar to the Earth, although it may include rocky areas. It is also much warmer than our home planet, as it revolves around its sun – HD21749 – halfway between the Sun and Mercury.

It was first noticed by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey satellite, launched in April 2018. This probe is designed to search for mini-eclipses that occur when planets pass host stars for an observer. on earth.

Recall TESS was launched in orbit with the help of SpaceK Space-Rocket Luncher 9. The task of the telescope includes the search for 200,000 stars to search for nearby planets, including terrestrial ones.
