St. Louis recorded 9.8 inches of snow around 7 pm ET, with more than one foot of snow measured in other parts of Missouri.
The snow will move later Saturday on the east coast, with forecasts of 4 to 6 inches for Washington and 2 to 3 inches for Baltimore, said forecasters.
"We have a heavy snowstorm that extends over 1,400 miles from Kansas to the east coast," said CNN meteorologist Haley Brink. "St. Louis is experiencing its worst snowstorm in five years.We will witness a major snowfall in the center of the Atlantic coastline in 2019."
