Two waves of snow, slush and freezing rain will hit our region this weekend. Winter storm warnings and winter weather warnings have been published.

The snow that falls all day Saturday will be light afternoons. Light flurries and even some pockets of a winter mix are possible throughout the afternoon. For our western counties (McDowell, Buchanan, Wyoming), the snow turns into rain / mix.
ALERTS AND WARNINGS
The snow and slush coverage will increase again on Saturday night, with areas west of Interstate 77 (McDowell, Wyoming, Tazewell and even some parts). Raleigh and Mercer counties will melt with melted snow and freezing rain. Rainfall will likely remain entirely in the form of snow for Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Summers, Monroe and Giles counties.
Precipitation will start at dissipate sunday morning with light rain possibility of rain showers sometimes even sunday.
Winter Storm Warning: Mercer, Summers, Monroe, Greenbrier, Giles, southeast of Raleigh, southeast of Fayette and Pocahontas 6am on Saturday Sunday, 7pm, 4 to 7 inches of snow is expected, with frost and freezing rain showers sometimes increasing locally, partly if no snow melts into the snow.
Winter Storm Warning: Tazewell, Bland and Wythe Counties until 7 pm on Sunday. Accumulation of snow and melted snow between 1 and 4 inches, with up to 0.20 "of ice.
