The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Metropolitan of Kiev and all of Ukraine, met Ukrainian families detained in Russia for political reasons. According to the correspondent of Radio Svoboda, it was about an informal meeting at a festive table in the premises of the Spiritual Academy located on the territory of Mikhailovsky Monastery in Kiev.
In addition to family members of political prisoners, embassies of the United States and the European Union joined the conversation. The Metropolitan said that representatives of various religious denominations, through the Council of Ukrainian Churches and Religious Organizations, had appealed to the international community to help release Ukrainians imprisoned by the Russian side.
During the festive dinner, his members belonging to different religious denominations together prayed for the release of the illegally imprisoned Ukrainians and listened to the songs held by Academy seminarians and the famous Ukrainian singers Sergei Fomenko (Fomi ) and Anzhelika Rudnitskaya.
