WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) – Prosecutors say they will seek a life sentence for a Chicago commuter accused of beating a 4-year-old girl to death after spilling juice on an Xbox video console .
According to the Chicago Tribune, prosecutors have declared that "odious" circumstances justified the sentence of Johnathan Fair, 19, of Waukegan, when he was convicted of the first degree murder of his daughter's daughter friend, Skylar Mendez. [19659004] Lake County attorneys said Fair was in custody at Skylar last month, when she was fatally injured. Fair took her to the hospital and initially claimed that she had fallen. She died a few days later
Defense lawyer Sam Amirante told The Associated Press on Sunday that he was confident that his client would eventually be acquitted.
A grand jury indicted Fair Fair. Prosecutors have announced their intention to sentence Thursday.
The trial of Fair is pronounced on February 17th.
