Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Statewide Alert for Marjani Aquil, 16, as a result of the kidnapping of Aquil at his home in Penn Hills, Pa., Wednesday afternoon. Authorities believe that Jermaine Laquay Rodgers, age 19 and ex-girlfriend of Aquil, is responsible for her kidnapping. Aquil was last seen at her home around 4:30 pm when Rodgers broke down the door to enter the residence.
Rodgers was armed at the time of the kidnapping, according to a friend of Aquil who was at home when the kidnapping took place. The police did not confirm that Rodgers was armed, although a criminal complaint indicates that there are filmed footage of the Aquil kidnapping by a security camera.
Aquil is described as a black woman of 5 feet 4 inches and weighing 140 pounds. Aquil has long black hair with blond highlights and was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, lt. blue jeans, beige boots.
Rodgers is described as a black man, measuring 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 160 pounds. According to Amber Alert, Rodgers has dark hair and brown eyes and was last seen driving a red sedan. The Daily Times Center reports .
Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton told reporters that it was not the first time Rodgers had been charged with kidnapping. Aquil. He was charged in 2018 with holding her for several days against his will.
