Current smartphones already have multicore processors and at least 2GB of RAM. They are therefore more functional than their predecessors in the low budget telephony segment. With the current development, Google decided that it was time to stop supporting 32-bit applications. To be precise, since it was decided by Google in late 2017, he decided to call him back.

Google Play Music will permanently stop functioning

According to their report published on the company's blog, as of August 1, 2019. With the 32-bit version, developers must place 64-bit versions of Android apps on Google Play, that is, a new game / program or an update of an existing application. An exception is only for certain games that use the Unity 5.6 engine or earlier, because its developers have recently added support for the 64-bit architecture.

After that date, Google will continue to support 32-bit versions of games and apps on the Play Store for two more years, but as of August 1 2021, all non-compliant applications and those that will not have a 64-bit version will be removed from this store. The requirement does not apply to Wear OS and Android TV, as these platforms do not support 64-bit code.

This was not a surprise to the developers because the search giant announced in 2017 the discontinuation of support for 32-bit applications. For ordinary users, virtually nothing will change, at best they will be able to use the full potential of their devices with 64-bit software. By the way, last year, Apple also dropped 32-bit applications, but first for macOS High Sierra, then for iOS 11.
